Well, things have not been boring as of late.
On the 11th of December I posted that Dad was starting to develop a rash. This is a common side effect and was nothing to be particularly alarmed about at the time. This quickly turned into a severe reaction that warranted stopping the medication altogether and meeting with the doctor. The rash not only spread but worsened to the point of being “horrific” as Dr. Dugan so eloquently described. I would have to concur with this statement as well as Dad who was experiencing the pain associated with the severe rash.
As of today 01/12/10 Dad’s skin has cleared up tremendously and he is sleeping with ease.
However, we have come up against a slight speed bump as today was the first day that Dad was not able to receive his chemo since his red blood count was too low. This is the first time he has had to skip a treatment and we praise God for that. Next week is his scheduled week off so he will miss two weeks and start again. His tumor marker test has not come back yet but they hope to contact him by the afternoon of 01/13/10. We’ll be interested to see how that turns out.
As the Advent/Christmas season comes to a close, we hope to update the blog more frequently. We enjoyed the time with Deanne and the Hong Kong family, and look forward to their return this summer.
Just received the update and his tumor markers read 270. It was 1900 last time which was a huge drop by itself. So, we wait to see what low red blood cells combined with low tumor markers means.
Praying for your whole family Don.

Glad to hear you’re looking pretty again. Actually when we saw you, the rash wasn’t too bad. We keep you in our daily prayers and thank God for continually listening.
